Privately held neighborhood grocery chain Trader Joe's is breaking ground in Valparaiso, IN this summer after receiving many requests from locals. Trader Joe's originally opened in Pasedena, CA and has 461 locations. Trader Joe's is always looking to expand their locations. "We were able to find a reasonable price on a site in Valparaiso that we have been watching in the last 6 months" said Steve Cookson, Trader Joe's marketing field specialist. Disposable income is important because prices at Trader Joe's are higher than traditional supermarket's, he said. The lifestyles of those living in an area are also important. The privately held grocery chain hopes to be open by Spring 2018.
