On October 13, 2017, Justin Hill, a local 10 year old boy, was mining for diamonds at Murfreesboro's Crater of Diamonds State Park with his family when he had reportedly fell into a deep hole just outside of the far northwest corner of the park's property. Unharmed from the fall, the young man began calling for his father, Harold. Once the father had managed to climb down to retrieve his son from the dark hole, it was then apparent that his son had stumbled upon what was assumed to be an old abandoned mining shaft dating back to the early 1900's referring to the park's history. Park officials quickly denounced the claim of an abandoned shaft and an investigation deeper into the "shaft" revealed an intricate system of additional "shafts" decending further beneath surface. Park officials then speculated that the shaft sytem were volcanic shafts formed millions of years ago by the now dormant volcano that the park currently sits above. After a further, more extensive and scientific investigation of the tunnels, it was revealed that the tunnels were once inhabited by an ancient intelligent race of humanoid persuasion. Judging by the dimensions of the tunnels, scientists suggest that the ancient inhabitants were approximately 3-4 feet tall. Markings were also discovered on the walls depicting humanoid figures apparently standing in a hunched over position with arms reaching below their knees. Local eccentric conspiracy theorists claim that these ancient drawings show proof of a highly debated race known to certain circles as "mole people". Scientists are still investigating these claims and adamantly refuse to acknowledge these far fetched accusations of such a race without any other extensive evidence to be accurately based on. Could this really be the first actual discovery of proof of the mythical "mole people"? We'll let you decide. Further updates will follow.
