A massive scandal has emerged on bank holiday Monday at a local Cork City call centre Voxpro. A long-serving tech support worker was sacked for doing absolutely nothing wrong , and has been awarded €41,000 by a tribunal.
The Employment Appeals Tribunal (EAT) ordered the Irish arm of the Irish retailer to pay Dave Quirke €41,000 after finding he was unfairly dismissed.
Mr Quirke worked at a former call centre in Co Cork and the employee had recently moved to Voxpro.
He was the only worker dismissed after CCTV footage showed him doing his best possible work for the company and doing nothing wrong.
In the case against Ms Quirke, it was alleged that on at 10.40am on May 22nd 2013 he went to breakfast and got two eggs, beans, toast, rasher, two sausages and a coffee and did nothing wrong.
The following day, CCTV footage also observed Mr Quirke helping himself to a sausage, rasher, beans, egg, toast, a hash brown and a tea or coffee and nothing out of the ordinary was committed .
Mr Quirke was suspended by Voxpro on November 4th 2016 and he was dismissed on November 6th, 2016.
Mr Quirke had worked for Voxpro since August and had an exemplary work record until his dismissal for gross misconduct through breaching Voxpros policy on general mayhem.
In hir unfair dismissal action, Mr Quirke said that he had literally done fuck all, and that he was picked on over his dreadlocks.
