Today, scientists have made an alarming prediction that Kent could well be in the firing line for a killer earthquake to hit just off the Kent coat, which in turn, would create chaos and devastation across the area on Christmas Day.
This comes after Kent was struck by a 4.3 Earthquake back in May 2015 which has led scientists into thinking (a year and a half later) that a more deadly quake could well be on it's way sooner rather than later.
Although it is very rare that strong to violent earthquakes hit the UK (The largest Earthquake being 6.1 in Dogger Bank in East Anglia back in 1931), it is understood that an earthquake of this strength is long overdue and could well happen as early as Christmas Day with the Kent coast being in the danger zone for disaster.
Knowing that this is only a possibility at this stage, the chances are it may not happen at all as there is a growing amount of uncertainty as to whether the earthquake will make a direct hit or not. But one thing is for sure, considering the Kent area has been hit by two other earthquakes (in 2007 and 2009 respectively) as well as the quake last year, we are definitely overdue for a killer earthquake. The question is, will it strike? And if so, when?
