A representative from the Detroit FBI field office reported that they have been recently tipped off of a Dwarf Hamster smuggling operation within the surrounding Metro Politan area.

Upon receiving this information, FBI agents along with a local undercover couple took part in a sting operation. The undercover couple attempted to purchase 2 Dwarf Hamsters from local residents Ryan Winter from Liviona and Amber Williams of Garden City. During the undercover operation the purchase of 2 Dwarf Hamsters was successful. However, during the transaction a third very rare red eyed Dwarf Hamster was unintentionally acquired. Both Winters and Williams are being held in federal custody pending charges for the sale of rare or in danger species, the sale of exotic and rare animals without a Dwarf Hamsters license, the importation of exotic and rare Dwarf Hamsters without a license, and other pending charges forth coming from the U.S district attorneys office.

The sale and importation of Dwarf Hamsters has been on the rise in the state of Michigan due to the new blood sport of Hamster fighting. The breeders and the individuals who fight Dwarf Hamsters seek out the rare red eye Dwarf Hamsters due to their violent and vicious nature. P.E.T.A. has been calling for the stop to Hamster fighting for years.

The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward to any information leading to a arrest of anyone associated with illegal Dwarf Hamster fighting / smuggling.
