A suspected bomb device has been found in a garden in hartstown in west Dublin today.
The device is understood to have been discovered by gardaí during a planned search of a house at oakview avenue, hartstown in Blanchardstown at around 7.20pm.
The Defence Forces bomb disposal squad was called once the explosive was found.
Homes nearby were evacuated.
The team arrived at around 8.15pm, and made the device safe.
A statement from the Defence Forces said the device was removed for further examination, after which it was confirmed to be viable. It was destroyed at a military range this morning.
