Ethan had told the writer of 17 magazine that he would like to pursue a his career in performing. Cutkowsky claims to have written over a dozen demo songs for a few different music producers. Wells spoke to 17 magazine when he was asked how he felt about Carl leaving permanently, his response, "we were going to cut off Carl in season 8 anyway. Send him to an all boys boarding school.
