Hanns Idler, A BMW Representative present during the company's quarterly press conference, claims that the "N54 engine" is a horrible mistake. Idler states that the engines tuning capability has been a "Worst-Case-Scenario" financial mistake for the company because it has negatively impacted "M" model car sales. Idler claims that BMW is taking action to make sure this won't happen again. BMW plans to strictly enforce and negate outside tuning on future non-"M" models. Further updates on N54 engine software may lock-out second source tuning via more restrictions on the 'DME'(engine computer), however owners may still purchase upgraded software through BMW.
