DEMOTTE - Officials are saying Thomas Jones, 42, of Demotte, was pulled over early Monday morning for letting his dog drive his semi. Officers stated they were on patrol when Jones' semi passed and they noticed something peculiar. When officers initiated a traffic stop and approached the passenger side door, they opened it to find Jones in the driver's seat with his four-year-old dog, Buster, on his lap. Jones stated he recently received a DUI and is unable to legally operate a vehicle. Jones stated he cannot afford to lose his pay, so he thought he would let Buster operate the vehicle so he can continue earning a salary. Jones and Buster were booked for Driving While Suspended and Operating a Motor Vehicle While Never Having Received a Valid Driving License. Jones and Buster's court date is set for May 15th at 1:00 pm.
