For years Malta, IL has celebrated the "fact" they they were home to the first paved mile of road in the United States; a belief that their small city helped shape American travel.
Well the truth has finally been revealed, and no Hoosiers, your portion of the Lincoln highway was not first or even second.
Baton Rouge, LA is home to the first paved mile in America; a mile that stretches from the far south corner of Main all the way to the East side of Sichta ave. Yes, this "mile" was actually 2.78 miles of cattle waste - better known as Bull Shit.
Indiana has and always will be celebrated for inventing and paving the first ever paved mile; so all the haters and Colbert's in the world - JUST DEAL WITH IT!
