An unregistered drone was reported flying in the Rocky Ripple, an Indianapolis suburb, last Tuesday. The drone owner failed to notify local airport authorities while flying in FAA Airspace. Eagle Creek Airport Director, Alan Tymes, stated "the drone created complications with an incoming flight and paralyzed the electronic landing gears. The pilot circled the local airport while performing a system reboot to enable the landing gears. Had the drone the pilot followed FAA obligations the traffic control operator would have instructed the pilot to not fly within 10 miles of the airport during a certain timeframe." Tykes stated local authorities are investigating the situation in search of finding the owner of the drone. Precendents have been previously set that illegal flight of drones can face penalties of up to $55,000 and/or 5 years in prison. If you have any information please contact local authorities.
