The solar eclipse scheduled for August 21, 2017, has been rescheduled for later that day. In a vote by nationwide meteorologists, it was unanimously decided to delay the eclipse until 6:30 pm on the 21st.
" The timing of the eclipse is inconvenient for a lot of working people," said meteorologist Stanley Urkell. " If we can reschedule it for a later time like 6:30 pm when people are home from work, many more people can enjoy it." The eclipse was scheduled for 12 pm EDT on August 21.
" If we can, we need to postpone the Persiedes meteor shower. It needs to be changed to an evening when there is not a full moon, so more meteors can be seen. Urkell is referring to the Persiedes meteor shower that is supposed to reach it's peak on August 12th.
