The Phoenix Suns and Nerlens Noel have come to an agreement on a one-year deal that will pay the restricted free agent $17.25 million. The Dallas Mavericks have 72 hours to match once the contract is signed. The Mavericks have said all along they would match any offer the center receives after acquiring him at the trade deadline last season.
In recent weeks it's been reported that Noel and his representatives have been disappointed with the way the Mavericks were handling free agency, and this all but guarantees that his stay in Dallas will be a short one. Noel said, "Clearly this has been a confusing summer. I wish they'd just let me go to where I feel wanted. Teaming up with my fellow Kentucky boys in Booker, Bledsoe, Knight and Ulis would be a dream come true."
