The Brown County Sheriff’s Department, and Texas State Game Wardens warn lake residents around the area of the dam, that there is a dangerous street gang with direct ties to “Surenos” gang in Mexico. The report states that “..all residents need be cautious and proactive while at your residences..”. According to sources, the group only tries to burglarize during the evening hours and early morning hours while people may be out to dinner, or still sound asleep.

One resident off of Bluebonnet Drive, a private road located about two blocks from the Dam Volunteer Fire Department, has already experienced such troubles when they came home from work one afternoon, and found a back window broken, and many things strewn about inside.

“It’s very scary knowing that someone has been in your home, not knowing them.” Beverly Johnson said late Tuesday afternoon when her and her son, Sonny, called 911 after learning of the break in.
“It’s surreal, I don’t even know if I want my mom staying here tonight. They even left a note that said ‘Surenos’, almost as if they were boasting.. scary” Sonny said once Channel 45 was able to reach the family. They have relocated for the time being to a local family friend’s home for their safety.

The Brown County Sheriff’s office has said if you see anything, call 911. If you know of any information that could be used to help find this group, you are encouraged to call the Law Enforcement Center using the non-emergency line at (325) 646-2525.
