Rueters NYC: Grand Central Station for immediate release.

In a surprise press conference today, struggling on-demand private driver company Uber announced that with the co-operation of Airbus, flying Uber cars will be available for use at several key locations in the New York City area starting today Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the end of the press conference.

With the advancements made recently in drone technology, Airbus CEO Fabrice Brégier said that it was the right time to introduce the technology to the people, and what better location than the city that never sleeps. Initially Virgin Atlantic and Tesla were also approached by Uber, but neither company felt that it could be done. Secretly Airbus was already looking in to implementing the technology into a large urban metropolis, but could not get the funding in the EU due to the recent Brexit vote that effectly quelled the program in France.

The first vehicle, named "Laville Naïfs" to go live today was christened at the press conference with a $4000 bottle of Krug 1995 Clos D’Ambonnay which immediately scratched some of the paint off the prototype. Brégier said that the beauty of the vehicle is the plastic exterior which can be easily repaired with little more that polymer epoxy and paint. Although it scratched easily with the broken bottle, the polymers have been tested to resist impacts of up to 450 mph (with frozen turkeys).

Rides are expected to cost between $5-$25 for any destinations between Montauk and Staten Island. The vehicle has a top speed of 350 miles per hour depending on air traffic and weather conditions.
