Middletown police are investigating a new surge of attacks on red vehicles, specifically red Dodge Durangos. Assailants dressed as clowns inspired by the new horror movie "IT" are traveling in packs and defacing and in some instances demolishing the vehicles. Police theorize that the red cars are targets because the character "Pennywise", the malevolent clown in the film uses red balloons as his "calling card".
