Maynardville TN in the heart of Union County is a quite little city tucked away in East Tennessee that consists of local farms, beautiful scenery, Norris lake and a handful of small businesses. The citizens of this small town was never informed that the local government give Ted Downey (the owner of several adult nightclubs) the go ahead to bring his business to the heart of their hometown. In an article of the knoxville news sentinel Downey wrote, (I think it will boost the local economy when we open the doors to our new 7000 square ft adult nightclub, it sure can't be worse than it already is). Downey claims that having a strip club in your town will solve most of it's bad economic problems and it will be another way for young females to help pay for their college tuition. A local resident commented on the news sentinel's Web article and said, (this is the first I've heard about a strip bar coming to Union County and I attend most of all counsel meetings, but I wouldn't put anything past the crooked officials we voted in to run our County).
We are waiting to hear back from local officials pertaining to this issue. An update will be given as soon as we hear from one of Union County's elected officials.
