A local Eye Doctor, who wished to remain anonymous, who practices in Spring Hill, Fl. recently won $1.2 million in the Florida lottery. As one would expect, he and his entire family were elated, hoping to pay off debt and "buy more mustangs", only to find out that the Health Care Reform Act allows the federal government to demand full refunds of all professional fees paid for services rendered by him for the prior 3 years. The doctor took the lump sum pay-out and received $345,000 after taxes. But, now he has to write a check for over $800,000 because of his good fortune. Federal officials have failed to comment on the story after repeated attempts to contact someone who could explain this. At last report, the lucky lotto winner has yet to refund the government and is considering going on full disability due to the extreme stress of this fiasco.
