At least 58 people were shot between Friday afternoon and early Monday in a violent Fall weekend in Chicago, reports the Chicago Tribune. 22 of the victims died.

The violence this year was largely concentrated in the city's south and west sides, including districts where the Chicago Police Department have deployed extra resources including hundreds of officers on overtime.

The youngest person shot was a 3-year-old boy seriously wounded in Gage Park on Friday night, the paper reports.

Chicago makes up 37 of the nation's shooting statistics, all variables considered. Victims this weekend included a mother and daughter, 49 & 20 respectively, shot in a gang style initiation incident in the city's Roseland neighborhood.

City gun violence has been declared a national crisis this year, and a curfew is now in place until further notice. Authorities advise children to go straight home after school. For all others, parks and recreation curfews have been set at 8 pm and a city-wide curfew has been set for 9:30 pm. Halloween trick-or-treaters have been encouraged to collect candy in the North side of the city only, with a curfew set at 6 pm.
