Brian Wilson pens answer song to Weezer's "Beach Boys"

Add the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson to the list of Weezer fans!
Weezer recently released their tribute to Brian Wilson's former band, titled, appropriately, Beach Boys. (Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsG37JcEQNw).
Apparently, Wilson was more than pleased, and the song has inspired him to create an "answer" song: "I'm a Weezer".
We reached out by phone to Wilson for comment:
BN: I don't think anyone expected this.
Wilson: I hope not.
BN: What inspired you to write "I'm a Weezer"?
Wilson: I heard that Weezer was doing a Beach Boys tribute song, and that they even had some clips of my dad [Murray Wilson] included. So I wanted to hear that. When I heard it, it was really good. It sounds like what I think The Beach Boys should be sounding like now.
BN: Have you reached out to [Weezer songwriter/singer] Rivers Cuomo?
Wilson: No, not yet. But I told my manager to let him know I would like to talk if he's interested.
BN: So tell us about your song.
Wilson: Well, I'm kind of older. So I thought it made sense to start with the title "I'm a Weezer". And then I just started getting the juices moving and got the chorus really fast. (Starts singing over the phone):
I'm a Weezer
But that's because I'm a geezer
But my girl I still please her
Got my little blue pills.
Wilson: And then I wrote the verses really fast, you know? I haven't really written a song in a long number of years. But this just flowed out. Like the old days.
BN: Who else is on the song?
Wilson: Some of the Beach Boys are on it. Al [Jardine] is on it. Mike [Love] might wind up on it. He recorded something, but I don't know if it's on the final version.
BN: When can we expect to hear the song?
Wilson: My manager is in charge of that. I think we are waiting until after Christmas because we want the biggest chance at a hit, and during Christmas everyone is listening to Christmas songs.
