Are you guilty of sharing a post without checking up on it first? Do you get carried away in the amazement that something that fantastic could have actually happened that you forget to do through research, or any at all? Well, you are contributing to the disinformation that keeps us all ignorant. You are being a good little cog in the wheel of oppression, the perfect solution to a world of knowledge at the fingertips of society.

Please stop. If a post sounds amazing, crazy or too good to be true, you should check up on it really fast. Start with the website that it's printed on. Have you heard of them before? If you click on the "home" button do the other headlines appear legit, or are they all just as crazy and amazing as the first? Next click on the "about" button in the menu or anything that will tell you about that news site. Read some of it. Does it seem like satire? Do you know what satire is? If you have done all those things and everything still seems legit try one more thing. Search for another story to back it up. Honestly you should have three sources for everything you take as fact. If you cannot find another website with that information anywhere on the internet that also passes those legitimacy tests then you have probably found some fake news. Congratulations.

By the way, start with this article. See where is says "home" at the top left. Click that and tell me if this is a legit site or not. Have a good day.
