A Queens bound N Train heading toward Astoria Blvd derailed at 12:08 AM causing major inconveniences for commuters. Three cars derailed as it was switching to another rail with the first car hitting a building. No deaths were reported and 16 people faced minor injuries. Danny Kong described the derailment as a soft bang into her building. “I heard something bang my building not that hard but it was more like hitting into a car while parking.” The train was reported that it was going on a normal pace as it was getting closer to approach the station. The switch brake failed to bring the train onto the other track causing one of the cars to hit a building with the other two derailed. Due to the derailment, N and W trains will not run between Queensboro Plaza and Astoria Ditmars Blvd both directions.
