In what can only be described as the tipping point for a franchise long cemented in the quagmire of inadequate management; the New York Islanders have traded franchise Center John Tavares to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Coming back to New York are winger James VanRiemsdyk and the Maple Leafs 1st Rd draft choices in 2018 and 2019.
Mike Babcock: "The time is now, you have to give up a little of the future when you're this close to dominating in the now....Tavares gives us that leadership quality we've been missing and he'll obviously help to even out the scoring punch throughout our lines."
