Director Ben Dover to take on major film project in rural Indiana

Our sources in the movie biz have shared a bit of long awaited information about the anticipated remake of the 1975 classic film The Stepford Wives based on the novel of the same name by author Ira Levin.

The Stepford Wives novel is a 1972 satirical thriller/sci-fi that concerns Joanna Eberhart, a photographer and young mother who begins to suspect that the frighteningly submissive housewives in her new idyllic Connecticut neighborhood may be robots created by their husbands. The book has had two feature film adaptations, both using the same title as the novel: the 1975 version, and the 2004 remake.

According to sources, New Castle was chosen as an ideal location for filming the remake because of its uncannily similar mood and atmosphere to the novel and film which is a seemingly content, even Utopian-like suburban area with amiable local politicians and eager to please citizenry. The daily local newspaper writes glowing reviews for the local Chamber of Commerce and other organizations, and on the surface, and in print, everything seems to be ideal.

"We will have to clean things up a bit in editing" says director Ben Dover. "The city is missing some attributes, like buildings, that we envision being in a small well-kept city. We'll be doing some green screening as well, luckily the overabundance of green trash toters will be easy to eliminate in the final edit. My God those things are like Tribbles".

Dover stated that he thought the filming would go smoothly and many locals have volunteered to be extras in the film. Said Dover, "my advice to those auditioning for parts is simply to just be yourself". Dover added that there will be a slight twist to the Stepford plot as it applies to New Castle, Indiana. He states that there is a "different kind of submissive vibe happening here" and he is excited to get started with the film as he thinks it will be relatable to people in other small midwest towns.

Dover also said that they had some specific filming locations in mind when they scouted the area a few years ago but some of them have disappeared. "We had this beautiful downtown Antique's Shop building that would have been great for the film, as where our protagonist's friend works part time in the movie, and a quaint and charming seafood restaurant that I loved for the film but when we returned this year they were gone.

"Also there was this military statue on the hill as we entered that that we thought was a brilliant "welcome" and we were planning on using it in the opening scene of the movie. We actually shot some footage of it to test it with the soundtrack and everyone loved it, but when we returned this month it too was gone. That's weird and could make for another great sci-fi movie" he said. "Kind of like "Left Behind" only the buildings and landmarks are disappearing instead of the people."

Dover added that he is very excited about this project and cannot wait to begin filming, he just hoped that the town would still be there for the entirety of the process. The film has a 2020 release date. A trailer for the film will be coming soon on YouTube and Facebook.
