Salem Twp, PA. The Pennsylvania Fish and Game commission have discovered a school of dolphins in the Southwestern corner of the Beaver Run Reservoir, near the village of Slickville. It is not exactly known how they got there, but the Commission advises that at least 11 of them have been seen. The Commission does not believe the dolphins can survive the winter. They plan to trap them, and donate them to the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. The Beaver Run Reservoir is Westmoreland County, PA, in Salem, Bell, and Washington Townships. At its closest point, it is 23 miles east of Pittsburgh. The elevation of Beaver Run Reservoir is 1053 feet above sea level. The reservoir is the source of drinking water for 150,000 people, Fishing in the reservoir and hiking near the reservoir are not allowed, due to public health concerns.
