The international Feline Association has announced plans to ban the use of the term Fur Babies because it is unfair to hairless cats.
"I know people aren't doing it intentionally, but each time a person says Fur Babies it is excluding an entire wing of the cat world," said IFA President Caroline Preston.
The ban will be phased in. Until July of 2020, it will be voluntary. After that, fines will be imposed. The first violation will result in a warning. The next comes with a $10 fine. The third is $50, and it continues to double from there.
"I want to emphasize that revenue generated by the fines will go to a variety of organizations that provide for the well being of felines," added Preston.
