Chicago , IL- Stolen manhole lids are becoming an epidemic.
On one busy street in east Chicago, dozens of open manholes were observed.
Cars zigged and zagged thru the street on their daily commutes. A few flat tires and bent wheels have happened but nothing to serious.
Pedestrians seem to face the biggest dangers. To fall into a manhole would be horrible. Most times there is poop in them.
One man interviewed,Mike Honcho, retold the horrific experience he endured.
"Here I was, minding my own business and all of sudden, BAM ! I fell into a manhole all the way up to my nuts! It was horrible, I had shit all over my feet. Luckily it wasn't that deep and I managed to climb to safety. ill never be able to look at a manhole the same way ever again. "
Mr. Honcho was visibly shaken. I asked him how he manages to get thru his day to day life with open manholes everywhere and he said " I give manholes a lot of respect now. I try to stay clear of them the best I can. "
