In a surprising development, researchers from genetic-heritage.com found a pattern among the DNA samples that they have been analyzing. Genetic-heritage.com is a service offered to the public. A person submits a sample of their DNA by mail, and that sample is analyzed to determine the heritage of that person (e.g., whether they are part Asian, Caucasian, etc.). "When we analyzed the DNA samples of purported Panthers fans, and unusual pattern frequently appeared," noted research John Harquist. "Apparently, it seems that most Panthers fans are related to each other. You only get this kind of anomalous result from years of in-breeding." Even more disturbing, Dr. Harquist noted, there is some animal DNA mixed in the Panthers gene pool as well. "In the vast majority of the DNA samples, you see some DNA strands that belong to a Tar Heel goat mixed in with the native Panthers fans population."
