A local shopping centre in Skelmersdale, 16 miles to the east of Liverpool is to be shutting down by April 2018. The CEO of North West properties told us ''There will be around 2000 jobs being lost, and local residents are shocked by the news, we did not want this to happen''
Over the past couple of years Skelmersdale concourse has been in major debt. A local resident, Becky Tugwell told us ''The news is rubbish, what will we have in Skem. Now we will just have Asda.'' There is an online petition to possibly stop the shopping centre from closing down at: www.petitiondaddy.co.uk.
