Local teacher, Scott Filkins has been awarded as the nations top transition maker. This prestigious award began in 1587 and has been awarded every year on May 7th, it just so happens that the Urbana native and Champaign Central teacher has won. When asked how he felt, Filkins responded by saying, "Special thank you to Miller Calhoun, who is the new father of student Jake Meyer after his bomb off of him." Filkins showed lots of appreciation and gratitude towards the community, donating his $1.3 million prize to the local animal hospital.
