YouTube star and inspiration James Charles deleted all social media accounts this morning after a long Instagram post.
“This online community has always been a toxic environment. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community and a person who has made mistakes, I have received so much backlash and even death threats. I love you all so much! I will miss all my sisters out there who have given me so much support and love! Hopefully the people I have inspired to do beautiful art can be better inspirations. I will continue to do my usual art with makeup every day and sell products but will no longer be active on any social media platforms. Bye Sisters, love you, James Charles” he tweeted and put on his Instagram story.
Fans have already jumped online to convince him to stay despite the hate.
“Look what you all are doing. James is quitting because of you. How can you bully someone that much when they have a huge following to want to quit sharing his joy? You are disgusting trolls. SisterStay,” one fan tweeted using the hashtag SisterStay, which has more than 1.6 million uses already.
Other fans have gone to even further lengths to keep the star active. One even attempting to break into his mansion.
There are countless theories to what was the last straw for James, one being 32-year-old singer Trisha Paytas, who has created an ongoing feud between him and her. She disagrees with actions he takes, along with the Damelio sisters, TikTok famous Charli and Dixie.
Charli and Dixie have taken to all platforms to share their goodbyes to James, saying,
“We have had so many memories with you and you have brought us many laughs. TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Snapchat will never be the same without you. Haters out there, I hope you realize how much your words affect others.”
Many other influencers as well as beauty gurus like NikkiTutorials, Manny MUA, Jeffree Star, Shane Dawson, and Nikita Dragun have shared their memories online.

The first big scandal James was involved in was with Tati Westbrook, another beauty guru with a 8.99 million following, when James promoted Sugar Bear Hair gummy vitamins. Westbrook had her own vitamin line, and was outraged that he wasn’t advertising hers instead. The feud continued for a while, Jeffree Starr even stepping in supporting Westbrook, until all the beauty gurus involved issued apology videos. Even then, many fans never forgave James, and even posted videos destroying palettes from his line with Morphe.
James Charles had a timeline of drama, but now, with him leaving, there is going to be plenty of news and even more drama about it. Atleast, this time, James won’t get himself involved.
