After a recent firefight with the Islamic State in Syria still ongoing after years of its near capitulation in Iraq, a surge of Islamic State violence has erupted in Syria most notably in an attack against UN base in Damascus resulted in 13 dead and nearly 42 wounded, in spite of this incident UN peacekeepers were sent in a repeat of events such as the last peacekeeping mission in 2012, almost a decade ago.
