California Health & Wellness Company Acquires Protein Rice Cake Company For $50M

A California Health & Wellness Company has just finished a deal to acquire the world's first and only protein rice cake company, Muscle-Cakes for approximately $50 million in cash and stock. Muscle-Cakes will remain an independently branded standalone product that's separate from the Health & Wellness Company, but other products will increase their ties to each other. The transaction should go through this quarter pending some standard closing procedures.
With the deal, Muscle-Cakes will gain massive design and production resources by joining forces with the Health & Wellness Company, a big change after running as a famously lean company with just a two employees. Still, the deal seems to let Muscle-Cakes stay somewhat independent and maintain some of its company culture. Muscle-Cakes Founder & CEO Will Koz writes in a social media post, “It’s important to be clear that Muscle-Cakes is not going away, this company is basically my child and you wouldn't just give away your child or want someone else to raise them would you?”
