In a surprise twist in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL has been purchased by Paramount, Universal Studios' parent company. It seems that top execs had neglected to remain current on insurance premiums, and the rising costs of repairs would fall squarely on the theme parks back.
Rather than run the risk of filing for bankruptcy, Disney Company CEO Bob Iger approached the board at Paramount with a business proposition, purchase Disney World as is, and honor all current guests reservations. It is reported that Paramount's Chairman of the Board howled with laughter as he accepted the deal.
Disney execs have refused to comment on the matter.
Stay tuned for future updates.
