Leafs have agreed to a 3-year $16.5 million dollar deal which promises him above 15 minutes of ice time a game. This is a big move but also questionable as we move on to Nylander. Lou Lamoriello has spoken been rumored to be choosing between Nylander and JVR. Nylander has been inconsistent and has not been succeeding without powerhouse Auston Matthews on the lineup. Nylander currently sits on 54 points with 17 goals. Nylander made his name last season to be a goal-scorer but currently has less goals then team leading Mith Marner. On the other hand JVR has been improving ever since last year (29 goals) and now sits with 34 goals, most goals for a player whose ice time is below 15 minutes since the NHL started counting ice-time. Nylander is expected to be traded in the off-season for a right-shot defensemen just entering his prime. This trade may happen during the draft to secure a top 10 draft pick.
