Jerome M. Adams, MD, MPH, the 20th Surgeon General of the United States has indicated that he has an interest in meeting with Dean Bernel regarding the health benefits of celebrating Naked Thursday. Dr. Adams, a Maryland native, has bachelor’s degrees in both biochemistry and psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, a master of public health degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and a medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine.
Dr. Adams and Bernel have had extensive conversations via telephone and social media, but the two have yet to meet in person. Dr. Adams commented yesterday in a press conference "I am looking forward to meeting with Mr. Bernel. He has certainly opened my mind."
Mr. Bernel had the following comment: "Dr. Adams is well respected and has an open mind. We have had many conversations and I can see him promoting the weekly practice... we just need to iron out some social justice issues."
The two should be meeting sometime next week, hopefully before Thursday.
