In a surprise decision in last night's city council meeting, councillor's voted unanimously to ban all stores from selling food products that contain animal products. The unprecedented decision was made during a closed door meeting that was put together after a private, in chamber viewing of the documentary of 'What the Health'. Acting mayor, Trevor Giertuga said in a statement "I can't believe I've been living a lie, I've never really considered veganism up until now; but now that I have, I can't deny that it's my destiny." Giertuga tabled the vote to ban animal based foods, seconded by Current River ward's Andrew Foulds and unanimously moved forward. The ban will be scheduled to begin January 1st 2018 and will follow an intense vegan action plan for the whole community where dietitians will be provided to Thunder Bay citizens for meal planning at no cost.
